Blogging Challenge Day 25 : MY BIGGEST REGRET (MAJOR THROWBACK)

Hello everyone! It's Day 25 of my blogging challenge. Eyyyy! Today let's talk about my biggest regret in life. I think my biggest regret is the time when I stopped having an active lifestyle. Gaash! I miss this sporty version of myself. I remember that year was 2015. For 3 times a week, I used to run 10 kilometers, mostly after work, then followed by an intense workout. Days in between this 10km runs, were 5km short runs. Huhu. I used to join fun runs almost every month. Also, I was an active participant in a bikers' group co-organized by my dad, "Riders Across Mexico" (RAM). Every Saturday, they would set long or short rides. I met new people with different ages. Because of biking, I had pushed my limits, and got out of my comfort zone. Sharing you some of my old photos, so you could imagine the younger me.

Here are photos on my very first long ride last April 9, 2015. From Mexico, Pampanga to Manaoag, Pangasinan with around 125 kilometers one-way.We started biking around 3:30 in the morning, and arrived at lunch time. Imagine the heat! I felt proud to myself! I never thought that I would survive this long ride under the excruciating heat of the sun. My only warm-ups for this one were short rides to Banal na Bundok in Magalang, Pampanga. I did it anyway after lots of water break. Hehe.

Some of our photos from our other rides:

This was my second and 'worst' accident, aside from the first one (my wheel got stuck and I got minor scratches). It was a Sunday afternoon, and RAM riders decided to have a chill ride. I couldn't think much of why it happened, but that time I pedaled with my best effort so that I would be the first in the group. Next thing I know was that I'm already lying on the bushes with bruises and scratches all over my body. Thank God my dad was with me! He examined me, then I felt a painful sensation when I moved my left arm. That's how we knew that there was something wrong with me, and needed medical attention. So we went straight to the emergency room at Mother Teresa of Calcutta Hospital in San Fernando, Pampanga. After a few tests and xrays, the doctor told us (I was with my parents) that my left wrist was dislocated. I was scared at that time, but my mom's presence was kind of comforting. After injecting the syringe with a big needle, Hinila ng doctor  yung kamay ko tapos tumunog!!! Deym that hurt so much, girl! My dad was kinda traumatized of this accident. There was not a time that year that he never mentioned this to me. That was my last ride, I think?

Next, my love for running. I would love to share a lot of our "finisher" photos on this one, but I don't know where I saved them. For now, here are some of them that I managed to see on my hard drive:
My running routine after work
@ Clark Animo Marathon. I was the one who introduced running to my Bebu. For consecutive 4 years, we never missed to participate on this one from 5 kilometers to 10 kilometers. We haven't tried the 21km on this event.

Another fun run
Aside from the fun runs, Panata run is our yearly tradition during Maundy Thursdays. This is our way of "Visita Iglesia". We would visit 9 churches around Angeles City through running. This is not like the typical runs. After stopping for every church, we would offer a prayer. Plus a group photo. Thanks to Dape, because he's the one who introduced this tradition! This was founded and organized by just a group of college friends, then it became #TeamPuso runners. We only missed one time since 2015, and also this year's Panata run, it was already cancelled, because of the Covid-19 situation.

A great accomplishment for my love of running was I finished a half marathon (21 kilometers) last August 2018. I had only a month to prepare for this half marathon. Every day after work, I tried to run with Dape and Bangs. I think I followed mostly all of the tips that I have read online, but during the run, it was really difficult.

Ps. Before this one, we managed to squeeze in another run last April 2018 and it was a 16-km night run. That's the time we planned on trying 21-km that year..

You could see on my facial expression the difficulty I'm experiencing, lol
Thanks to Bebu, for pushing me. Literally, pushing me in times that I want to give up. I still couldn't believe it that I'm a 21km finisher! WHoo!

~ 0 ~ 0 ~ 0 ~

Aside from running and biking, doing workouts was my thing, then I just stopped after passing the board exams, because I got my first corporate job.

Pak ganern!

I never missed my daily workout back then, even during my period and review days. With my workout, some of my abs and other improvements started to show up. Girl, don't forget to do your planks and squats!! I used to have less intake of carbohydrates and sweets. I wish I could have this body again :( *working on it, huhu* At home I had my ab rocket equipment and my dumbbells. But when I moved to Manila, that was the time I started doing my no-equipment workout. It's most likely the one that I posted in my blog. Check out this link: Home workout without equipments

During the mid-20s phase, juggling to different jobs, still exploring my career, you see that I'm not the type of person who got all figured it out, huh? My focus back then was mostly my career and I had forgotten to slip a quick workout on my weekly schedule. What do you expect? I gained a few pounds. I couldn't fit my clothes anymore. It was just after my birthday trip last year that Anju challenged ourselves to workout again and start intermittent fasting.

Going back to date, during this lockdown, I am trying my best to make the best out of it while I still can, and exercise every day! Looking back to my old photos, it made me realize that I really miss the younger me, never afraid to push harder, and have the guts to flaunt it. lol. The younger me's dream is to join a triathlon, but years passed by, I never had the chance to sign up any, even just a duathlon. It will be my forever dream. I have never imagined that this will happen in my lifetime, but who knows? Maybe in the coming years? Hahaha!

Writing today's challenge motivated me to become better again, to make myself look better again, and to enjoy being young once again, because we're getting older. Di na babalik yung nakaraan. Surely I'm adding this on my to-do list after this lockdown. How about you? What are you planning to do after being stuck at home? Aside from satisfying all your cravings ha... I hope you're doing okay!

Take care,
Kreng
