Humans by Nature (Tips to Deal with Depression)
Today is a rainy day and I feel like writing. How's your day? It's a bed weather kind of day. Gaash, it was hard to get up this morning because it was still dark and cold. All I want is just to snuggle under the sheets and hug Bebu. harottt! 2 more days and we will be celebrating our 9th anniversary!! Yahoooo!! If Covid didn't happen, probably we're spending our anniversary somewhere nice, order something expensive or travel outside the country. Hayyyy. Last year, we spent our anniversary roaming the streets of Shanghai! Can't wait to make more memories and experience the world with Anju!!! #TeamAnjuKrengForTheWin

My great uncle once said to me that by nature, people are sad and quiet. Happiness is just an abnormality to us humans. Not everyday we are feeling happy. Mostly we're just feeling fine - which is normal. What's not normal is smiling without reasons - that makes you a crazy person. lol
Did you know that depression starts with comparison? First, you will somehow compare yourself to the others. How come they have achieved their dreams or goals earlier than me? Why they got engaged or married earlier than me? How can they afford to buy their own house at this age? These are just some normal thoughts probably from women with my same age. Then, you will be frustrated by yourself. You will overthink and can't focused on your present tasks. Eventually, you feel disappointed not achieving your goal, so you will struggle. After struggling, somehow you will lose your purpose or you will be redirected. Then, that's the time depression hits you.
1. Comparison
2. Frustration
3. Disappointment
4. Struggle
5. Loss of Purpose
6. Self-Pity
7. Depression
At this time, I am happy that I have overcome the so-called quarter life crisis. Right now, l believe that our big break will come at the right time ;) As much as possible, just be happy for the success of others. Okay?
Writing all this down, I'm thinking how I was able to overcome my depression for the last months. Yes, I can suggest, but what's effective to me may not be effective to you. Still, here it goes.
1. Change your routine.
2. Don't forget to do your work outs - to boost endorphins!
3. Incorporate Netflix in your life - more Kdrama (Netflix, baka naman?)
4. Lessen your time in using social media.
As for me, it's been 10 months since I deactivated my facebook. Actually, this helped me bigtime. You know the saying, what you don't know can't hurt you. Haha. ;)
5. Avoid toxic people.
6. Never forget your "me" time.
Go out by yourself. Walk outside but with face mask on. Do your skin care routine. Have your mani-pedi session. Having a me time is healthy and very nice.
7. List down goals as much as you want.
Either on your journal, planner, or maybe on your phone. Not to be pressured, but for you to attain direction in your life and as days go by, you will soon realize your purpose.
8. Do something productive.
Clean your room - Marie Kondo style, like a Virgo does always. Read a book. Cook a new dish. Bake something sweet. Watch a new series. You see, there are lot of things to do just to prevent yourself from overthinking.
9. Talk to someone you are comfortable with and someone who knows you have depression.
10. The last, but not the least, PRAY. Talk to God.
There are different ways on God answers your prayers. It maybe through your dreams. It can be also through someone. You may not have realized it at that moment, but sooner or later, the realizations will come. Just trust Him and have faith.
Please take care and keep safe,
Kreng xx
